Tasmania Duo Charged Following Ravenswood Drug Seizure

A man and woman have been arrested and charged after police seized a significant amount of methylamphetamine (ICE), and a large quantity of cash in Northern Tasmania yesterday.

During a search of a Ravenswood residence yesterday, approximately 40 grams of the highly addictive drug ice, which could have resulted in 400 street deals, was seized.

Also seized were quantities of cocaine and cannabis, and approximately $66,000 cash.

A 31-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, both from Ravenswood, were charged with Trafficking in Controlled Substance (Major Offence) and Dealing in Property Suspected of being Proceeds of Crime.

They were both bailed to appear in court at a later date.

Detective Acting Sergeant Nathan Wheldon said "Tasmania Police will continue to target anyone involved in the distribution of illicit substances."

"Drugs seized by police yesterday are highly addictive and had the potential to cause significant harm to nearly 400 people in our community, through individual street deals."

Anyone with information about illicit substances should contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000 or online at crimestopperstas.com.au
