A dedicated TASMANIAN stand will highlight around 10 of the state's food and beverages at one of Australia's largest direct-to-retailer supplier showcases, for the first time.
The Co operative Supermarkets Australia Direct2Store Expo will be held in Sydney from today until Friday, 8 May 2026.
Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, said we are delivering for Tasmanian businesses by supporting them with opportunities to grow their presence in mainland markets.
"Domestic trade plays a critical role in Tasmania's export economy," Minister Barnett said.
"Each year Tasmanian businesses sell billions of dollars' of goods into mainland Australian markets with the most recent figures showing domestic exports were estimated at more than $27.8 billion.
"This means the Australian mainland is our biggest export market and it often lays the groundwork for future international export success.
"This domestic exporting is often the first and most important step on the export journey for Tasmanian businesses."
Participation in the CSA Direct2Store Expo also highlights how Tasmanian businesses are building export capability through targeted government support.
"We know our nation and the world are facing turbulent times. We're ensuring our economy continues to be strong, resilient and well positioned for the future. These trade events help keep our economy strong, support business and create jobs," Minister Barnett said.
"Trade events such as the Direct2Store Expo help connect these Tasmanian producers delivering direct results with retail decision makers from across Australia.
"They provide a strong platform to showcase new products, secure distribution opportunities and build the long term commercial relationships needed for sustainable growth."
