Tasmanian Government committed to healthy population target

Jeremy Rockliff,Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is 100 per cent committed to our aspirational target of making Tasmania the healthiest population in Australia by 2025.

This commitment is first and foremost in our preventative health strategy, the Healthy Tasmania 5 Year Strategic Plan, which is online and publicly available here.

Earlier this week the Government highlighted our plan to update and release a new Healthy Tasmania Plan in 2021 next year, which follows five years of significant and successful health outcomes in the state.

This document will continue to include our aspirational target – and we have no intention of walking away from it.

This was also reiterated by the Minister for Health, Sarah Courtney yesterday in Estimates Committee.

The next Healthy Tasmania plan will build on all that we have achieved and we will strive to make even greater inroads to improving the health of all Tasmanians.

In addition to our preventative health strategy, our Healthcare Future document outlines how we are rolling out changes in our primary and acute health care settings and we also have our Mental Health Plan.

These documents complement each other, and it's unfortunate Labor's Dr Seidel is unable to navigate his way through simple health strategy documents.
