Tasmanian Health Senate Expressions Of Interest Open

Tasmanian Government

Tasmanians passionate about improving health services and patient health outcomes are invited to apply for membership of the Tasmanian Health Senate, with expressions of interest (EOI) to join the advisory body now open.

Minister for Health, Jacquie Petrusma, said this is an exciting opportunity for interested people to become more involved in shaping the Tasmanian healthcare system.

"The Tasmanian Health Senate brings together passionate members representing all corners of the State and all sectors of the health system as a collective voice to provide advice on health issues of state-wide and strategic importance," Minister Petrusma said.

"The Senate is a representative group of all Tasmanians, with a varied spread of gender, age, health, cultural background and geography.

"Since being established in 2023, the Health Senate has debated and advised Government on critical matters such as the Long-Term Plan for Healthcare in Tasmania 2040, virtual healthcare in Tasmania and Tasmania's health workforce.

"We are looking for clinical experts and individuals who have worked in the health system as well as people who use health services, lived experience advocates, carers and support people who represent priority population groups and our wider community.

"We are also running an EOI process for the Health Senate's Deputy Chair position, as Clinical Associate Professor Marcus Skinner, the inaugural Co-Chair of the Senate, will be stepping down from that role.

"I would like to thank Associate Professor Skinner for his invaluable contribution in establishing the Senate in 2023 and for his work in guiding the inaugural years of the Senate, to ensure its success and impact to improve health in Tasmania.

"Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we are pulling out all the stops to build an even better health system."

The Senate was co-designed with key stakeholders to engage with health professionals, health organisations, consumers and the community across Tasmania.

Expressions of interest to join the Tasmanian Health Senate and for the Deputy Chair position close on 31 May 2025.
