Tasmanian Labor's Cochlear Implant Queries Ignored, Sep 10, 2023

Tas Labor

Ever since Cochlear implant faults in Adelaide were found to have led to long-term development issues in children last month, Labor has been trying to get answers from the Rockliff Government about whether similar issues could have happened here.

When the South Australian Government first announced the faults, it said there could be national implications.

However despite multiple inquiries through both the parliament and media to get to the bottom of whether Tasmanian families have cause for concern, the Rockliff Government has remained silent.

Why has it taken so long for the Government to look into the issue and provide an answer to a simple question?

The Rockliff Government owes it to Tasmanian families of children with hearing loss to confirm one way or another whether children in this state are exposed to these faults.

Every day they don't is causing unnecessary uncertainty and worry.
