Tasmanian Women's Council reappointments

Jane Howlett,Minister for Women

Congratulations to Ms Bronwyn Tamplin and Dr Mary Duniam for being reappointed to the Tasmanian Women's Council for a further two years.

The pair bring significant expertise and insight to the Council, and Tasmania is fortunate to have such eminent women working to improve opportunities for women in our State.

Reappointing Ms Tamplin and Dr Duniam will enable the consistent provision of advice to Government related to the women's portfolio, and in particular, to the new Tasmanian Women's Strategy which is currently under development.

The Tasmanian Women's Council has eight members who advise the Minister for Women and the Tasmanian Liberal Government on issues of importance to women, and contribute to Government policy, particularly to improve equality and participation for women.

Dr Duniam has been the Deputy Mayor of Waratah-Wynyard Council since 2014. She was elected to the Waratah-Wynyard Council in 2005. She is an active member of Council Committees, and is also a member of the Cradle Coast Authority and the Local Government Association of Tasmania and has a PhD with specialisation in Local Government and Social Enterprises.

Ms Tamplin is Manager of Early Learning Services and part of the B4 Early Years Coalition and Playgroup Tasmania. Her areas of interest are in parenting, early childhood education, career development, safety, justice, health and wellbeing. She is also committed to providing equity and social justice for young women within our community, particularly those from vulnerable circumstances.

On behalf of the Tasmanian Liberal Government, I thank Ms Tamplin and Dr Duniam for their continued service to the Tasmanian Women's Council.
