Tasmanians Get Taxis, Not Ambulances, Amid Crisis

Too many Tasmanians being sent taxis instead of ambulances

After 13 years of Liberal waste in the health system, Tasmanians in need of urgent medical attention are being sent taxis instead of ambulances.

Shocking new data has revealed that 165 taxis were sent to patients instead of ambulances in the first nine weeks of this year alone. These taxis aren't just being sent for minor issues - we know they are collecting patients suffering serious conditions, such as life-threatening seizures.

This is clearly unacceptable practice, yet the Health Minister is stubbornly maintaining that there's nothing to be concerned about.

The Minister's defence that the decision to send taxis instead of ambulances was made by clinical professionals doesn't stack up.

Does she really think our hardworking health staff would send taxis if they didn't have to?

It's far more likely that these situations are a matter of last resort, and the least-worst option for professionals trying their best to operate in a health system that has been decimated by 13 years of Liberal waste.
