Tasmanians in pain as Gutwein Government fails to act

Tasmanian Labor
  • Ramping continues as health system in crisis
  • Patients, paramedics and volunteers suffer
  • Peter Gutwein and Sarah Courtney must act
  • Tasmanians in need of urgent care are being denied access to it as ramping continues at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Shadow Minister for Health Dr Bastian Seidel said the image of Ambulance ramping occurring at the RHH this afternoon showed a health system in crisis.

"It was just weeks ago that someone died waiting for an ambulance and we are at risk of this happening once again," Dr Seidel said.

"Premier Peter Gutwein and Health Minister Sarah Courtney cannot continue to allow this to happen and must immediately invest to fix Tasmania's withering health system.

"Ambulances ramping not only impacts patients but it hurts our hardworking paramedics and volunteers.

"Tasmania's health workers do a fantastic job under difficult conditions; however they must have greater support.

"Our health system is in crisis, people are dying and our health workers have their backs against the wall.

"The Government must fix Tasmania's health system before more people suffer."
