Sydney's iconic Italian festival, Ferragosto, returns to Five Dock on Sunday 16 August, bringing Italian food, culture, music and family-friendly fun to Great North Road.
"Ferragosto is a special day," City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna said.
"It brings people together to enjoy great food, music, culture and entertainment in the heart of one of Sydney's proud Italian communities.
"Whether you come every year or you are visiting for the first time, Ferragosto is a fantastic day out and a celebration of everything people love about Five Dock."
This year's program offers something for everyone. Visitors can relax at Terrazza Aperol on Garfield Street, an orange Mediterranean oasis serving their signature spritz, or stop by Piazza Sandhurst on Ramsay Road for delicious panini, free antipasti tastings, prizes and more.
Making its Ferragosto debut is FerraCinCin, a new wine and beer garden on Barnstaple Road where visitors can enjoy a Birra Moretti beer or a glass of Calabria Bêlena wine paired with freshly made pizza.
Families will also be spoilt for choice, with free amusement rides, a petting zoo supported by Canada Bay Club, spectacular performances, roving entertainment and activities throughout the day.
Local favourite Club Five Dock RSL is getting into the Ferragosto spirit early, with an Italian trivia night on Saturday 15 August, followed by coffee for festival-goers on the day, with all proceeds donated to local schools.
And for the foodies out there you don't want to miss FerraCucina! Reimagined for this year's festival, the culinary stage will serve up a fresh new format and experience, with a series of live cooking sessions programmed by Navarra Venues throughout the day.
The main stage, FerraVarietà will be a highlight with music, comedy and big Italian-Australian energy. Event partner Co.As.It. has helped bring three crowd favourites to this year's festival: beloved entertainer Arturo Toscani, award-winning comedian James Liotta, and powerhouse Adelaide vocalist Claudia Migliaccio.
Getting to the festival will be easier than ever, with Event Partner Transit Systems increasing the shuttle bus service from two buses to nine. Six buses will run in a continuous loop to help visitors travel to and from the festival, while three additional buses will connect visitors from Rhodes
"Ferragosto is one of the biggest days on our calendar, and this year's program has something for everyone," Mayor Megna said.
"With more shuttle buses, incredible food and entertainment, and plenty for families to enjoy, it is the perfect day to experience the colour and energy of Five Dock."
