Taxi driver assaulted in Frankston

Police are appealing for public assistance after a taxi driver was assaulted in Frankston last month.

Investigators have been told a man got out of a taxi without paying for his trip about 12.15am on 21 January.

A short time later the taxi driver approached the man on Young Street, Frankston and asked him for payment.

The man then punched the taxi driver, causing non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital for treatment.

He then fled the scene and was gone before police arrived.

The man is perceived to be of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance with short dark hair.

He was wearing a blue or grey t-shirt and was carrying a black shoulder bag.

Investigators have released images and CCTV footage of a man who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

Investigators are also keen to speak to any witnesses that may have been present at the time of the assault.
