Teacher charged after grooming a student in Tamworth

A teacher has been charged over allegedly grooming a student in the north-eastern NSW.

On Wednesday (15 February 2017), detectives from Oxley Local Area Command commenced an investigation following a report a teacher had made an inappropriate approach to a former student.

Following inquiries, a 26-year-old woman was arrested in Gunnedah about 12pm yesterday (16 February 2017).

She was charged with use carriage service to procure person under 16years for sexual activity, and use carriage service to groom under 16 years for sex.

Police will allege in court the woman groomed a male student at a school in the Tamworth area between 2016 and 2017.

The woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Gunnedah Local Court on Tuesday 7 March 2017, NSW Police say.
