Techno Park Block Use Rights Approved

Residents living within a single block of units at Techno Park are the first to have their existing use rights approved.

Council has approved a certificate of compliance to residents living in Block 11, after they proved the block has been used for residential purposes continuously for 15 years.

Throughout 2024 and early 2025, Council communicated with Techno Park residents that enforcement action would be paused to allow people to apply for certificates to assess their existing use rights.

The ability to apply for certificates followed state government changes to planning schemes in February 2024.

Council is awaiting further applications for other properties within Techno Park to confirm whether existing use rights have been established for those properties. Residents have until 16 January 2026 to apply for a certificate of compliance.

Quotes attributable to Mayor of Hobsons Bay, Cr Daria Kellander:

"This is a great outcome for those living in this section of Techno Park. I'm really pleased that they now have more certainty over their future. We will continue to work with the rest of the residents within Techno Park to resolve this issue."
