Griffith City Council has endorsed, in principle, the Draft Ted Scobie Oval Master Plan, now on public exhibition for community feedback.
Developed in collaboration with the Griffith Touch Football Association, Griffith & District Football Association and Griffith District Cricket Association, the Master Plan outlines a long-term vision to upgrade Ted Scobie Oval, one of Griffith's key regional sporting facilities.
The proposed upgrades respond to growing demand and aim to modernise Ted Scobie Oval to better support local athletes, sporting clubs and events.
Key features include:
- Lighting, 15 new towers with approx. 115 LED units
- New two-storey clubhouse, replacing ageing facilities
- New amenities block, relocated for improved access
- Hard stand multi-purpose courts, basketball and futsal
- Two-lane cricket practice nets
- Digital scoreboard/screen
- Drainage improvements
Mayor Doug Curran congratulated the sporting associations involved, acknowledging their work to upgrade this community sport infrastructure.
"Ted Scobie Oval plays a key role in our city's sporting life. This Master Plan supports its growth and future use," he said.
The implementation of the Master Plan is reliant on obtaining grant funds, with the consultant involved in the Draft Master Plan identifying a number of possible grant sources.
The draft plan is on exhibition for 28 days. If no submissions are received, it will be adopted as exhibited. To view the plan or provide feedback, visit www.griffith.nsw.gov.au or contact Council on 1300 176 077.
