Teen approached in Marrickville

Police are investigating after a teenage girl was approached by a man in Sydney’s inner west yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 6pm yesterday, a 15-year-old girl left a youth club on Illawarra Road, Marrickville.

Police have been told a man sitting outside spoke to the girl, before she sat down next to him and he touched her leg.

Whilst the man became distracted, the girl ran inside and notified a staff member.

Officers from Marrickville Local Area Command were notified of the incident and an investigation commenced.

Police are hoping to speak with a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being Caucasian appearance, aged in his 60s, approximately 170-175cm tall, and with grey short hair. He was wearing a grey shirt, grey shorts and runners.

He was seen leaving in an older model white panel van.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
