Teen arrested for handbag theft, SA

A teenager has been arrested after allegedly trying to steal a handbag at a Findon supermarket this morning, according to SA Police.

Police were called to the Grange Road supermarket at 8am on Tuesday 18 July by reports a thief was being detained by members of the public.

It will be alleged the youth had grabbed a woman's handbag, knocking her to the ground, and tried to run away. He was grabbed and prevented from fleeing by members of the public.

The victim was shaken by the incident, but not physically injured.

The 15-year-old boy from Felixstow was arrested and will be interviewed by detectives. He is expected to be charged with robbery later this morning.

Police wish to thank the public for their quick actions in coming to the woman's aid and helping to apprehend the suspect.
