Teen arrested for Nunawading car thefts

Police have arrested a teen following the theft of two motor vehicles from the same premises in Nunawading last night, Victoria Police say.

It’s alleged the driver of the stolen Audi rammed a police vehicle in Bond Street, Ringwood about 1.45pm, causing minor damage to the police vehicle.

The two senior constables were not injured.

The driver fled the scene and shortly later Nunawading Highway Patrol members responded to reports of a vehicle being driven erratically in Ringwood where they sighted the Audi in High Street.

A short pursuit ensued followed by a foot chase before a 17-year-old boy was arrested on Burwood Highway.

The Clayton teen is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Maroondah Crime Investigation unit detectives continue to search for another person believed to be involved in the theft of the two vehicles from outside a residence in Sunnyside Avenue.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
