Teen charged following pursuit in Bourke

Police have charged a teen following a pursuit in north western NSW yesterday, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 10.40pm yesterday, police from Darling River Local Area Command attempted to stop a Holden Commodore within the Bourke Township, after receiving information the vehicle was driving recklessly.

Police attempted to stop the Commodore on Mertin Street, where the driver allegedly failed to stop. As a result a pursuit was initiated.

Following the pursuit the vehicle then mounted onto the kerb, through a fence before crashing into a house. No one was injured as a result of the accident.

The teen was arrested at the scene by police.

He was taken to Bourke Police Station where he was later charged with driver never licensed, drive with high range PCA, take and use conveyance without consent of owner, and police pursuit – not stop- drive recklessly.

The teen was bailed to appear at a children’s court on the 4th of August 2016.
