Teen Charged in Maitland Assault: Strike Force Bosgar

A teenage boy will face court today charged following the alleged sexual assault of an elderly woman near Maitland on Monday.

Police have been told that the woman was walking in Brooklyn Park in Ashtonfield when she was allegedly knocked to the ground and sexually assaulted by a male about 7.20pm on Monday 17 November 2025.

The male left the scene a short time later, and the woman returned to home before police were alerted by the woman's family.

The woman – aged in her 80s – was taken to the John Hunter Hospital for treatment.

Detectives attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District and the State Crime Command's Sex Crimes Squad commenced inquiries into the incident under Strike Force Bosgar.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a home in East Maitland about 7.40pm last night (Tuesday 18 September 2025).

A 13-year-old boy was arrested at the home and taken to Maitland Police Station.

There he was charged with,

  • Aggravated sexual assault – inflict actual bodily harm on victim
  • Sexually touch another person without consent, and
  • Incite another to sexually touch them without consent.

He was refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Wednesday 19 November 2025).
