A teen will reappear in court today charged following an investigation into an alleged aggravated robbery in the state's north last week.

About 9.30pm on Thursday 8 May 2025, officers attached to New England Police District responded to reports a man had allegedly been assaulted and threatened with a knife while attempting to leave a carpark on his motorbike.

Officers were told the 22-year-old man was approached by a male in a carpark on Amaroo Drive, Moree, and punched in the face before a wrestle ensued.

A second male – armed with a knife – approached, threatening the man before the group fled to a motorbike in nearby bushland where they met a third person and fled.

The man did not require any medical assistance.

Following inquiries, about 5.30pm on Saturday (17 May 2025), officers attended a home in Moree and arrested a 16-year-old boy.

He was taken to Moree Police Station and charged with aggravated robbery.

The teen was also charged with unrelated matters for police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, breach of bail.

He was refused bail and appeared at a children's court yesterday (Sunday 18 May 2025), where he was granted conditional bail to appear at another children's court today (Monday 19 May 2025).

Inquiries are continuing under Operation Soteria.
