Teen Charged in Orange Break-Ins, Stolen Vehicles

A 17-year-old boy will face Court after being charged with a string of offences alleged to have occurred in the Orange area over the past month.

Between Tuesday 14 April and Thursday 23 April 2026, multiple aggravated break, enter and stealing offences were reported in the Orange area in which five young persons allegedly breaking into houses, stealing vehicles and smashing front windows and doors of small businesses in the Orange CBD.

Cash registers were targeted in the commercial break-ins and significant damage was caused to the various retail outlets.

Following inquiries by the Central West Police District's Proactive Crime Team, about 8.00am today (Thursday 30 April 2026), with the assistance of Orange detectives, police executed a search warrant at South Terrace, Orange, and arrested a 17-year-old boy.

The teen was taken to Orange Police Station where he charged with 14 offences - eight counts of aggravated break, enter and steal, four counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, be carried in conveyance without consent of owner and goods in custody.

He was refused bail to appear before a children's court tomorrow (Friday 1 May 2026).

Inquiries into all incidents continue and further arrests are anticipated.
