Teen Charged in Orange Burglary

A teenager will face court following an alleged break, enter and steal in the state's central west.

About 2am Saturday 14 March 2026, officers attached to Central West Police District were called to a residence on Pirinari Place, Orange, with reports of a break and enter, and vehicle theft.

Police arrived and were told unknown person/s had entered the home, stealing the keys to a Mazda sedan and two wallets, before fleeing in the vehicle.

Following inquiries, about 10pm the same day, police located the vehicle on the Great Western Highway after it had crashed into a ditch.

Police allege a 17-year-old boy was found attempting to steal from vehicles in Orange on Tuesday 7 April 2026.

About 9.30am the following day (Wednesday 8 April 2026), police attended a home on Currong Crescent, Orange, where they arrested a 17-year-old boy. He was taken to Orange Police Station, where he was charged with drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and learner not accompanied by driver/police officer/tester.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Monday 4 May 2026.
