A teenage boy is due to appear in court today charged over the alleged assault of a woman on a train in Sydney’s north-west overnight, NSW Police say.
Police from Hawkesbury Local Area Command were called to Clarendon Railway Station about 10pm today, after a 30-year-old woman reported she’d been attacked on a train from Richmond.
The woman was shaken by the incident but did not require medical attention.
As a result of a broadcast description, and after viewing CCTV supplied by Sydney Trains, officers arrested a 15-year-old boy at a home in Hobartville only a short time after the incident.
He was taken to Windsor Police Station where he was charged with assault with an act of indecency, and possess a prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear in a children’s court later tomorrow.
Hawkesbury LAC Duty Officer, Chief Inspector Gary Sims, said the arrest demonstrated the effectiveness of interagency co-operation.
"After receiving excellent assistance from Sydney Trains staff, and the good local knowledge of Hawkesbury police, an arrest was quickly affected," Ch Insp Sims said
