A teenager will appear in a Children’s Court today after police charged him with firearm offences in Newcastle overnight, NSW Police say.
About 11.10am on Saturday 9 September a 17-year-old male entered a service station on Glebe Road at Adamstown.
The teenager became involved in an altercation with a staff member and threw a cup of coffee at the employee.
The teenager retrieved a pistol from his car and allegedly threatened staff members who retreated inside the store.
After kicking the front doors of the store the teenager left the area in his car with two friends.
About 11.30pm on Sunday 10 September 2017, the teenager attended Newcastle Police Station with the remains of the replica firearm which had been smashed.
The teen was arrested and later charged with multiple offences including being armed with intent to commit indictable offence, common assault, possess unauthorised firearm and traffic offences.
The 17-year-old boy was refused bail to appear at a Children’s Court tomorrow.
