Teen critical after being hit by truck in Bankstown

A teenager has been taken to hospital with critical injuries after being hit by a truck at Bankstown, NSW Police say.

The boy was struck while crossing at the intersection of Chapel Road South and Edwards Street just before 5pm (Friday 31 August 2018).

He has been taken to Liverpool Hospital with critical injuries.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command and the Crash Investigation Unit are at the scene.

The truck driver, a man believed to be aged in his 40s, wasn’t injured but has been taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory testing.

An investigation is underway.

Chapel Road South is currently closed at the location and diversions are in place. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
