Teen hospitalised after hit and run - Leichhardt

A teenage boy has been hospitalised following a fail to stop crash in Sydney's Inner West overnight.

About 8.30pm (Friday 16 February 2024), emergency services were called to the intersection of Reuss and Excelsior Streets, Leichhardt, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Leichhardt Police Area Command arrived to find a 13-year-old boy had been riding a bike when he was hit by a car.

The vehicle reportedly continued along Reuss Street, failing to stop and assist.

The teen suffered serious injuries and was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to the Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist officers attached to the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

An investigation is now underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As inquiries continue, investigators are seeking to identify the vehicle – described as a white Audi hatchback - and speak with the driver.
