Teen In Court After Stolen SUV Crashes At Seven Hills

A boy is due to appear in children's court today charged after a stolen SUV crashed and caught fire at Seven Hills early this morning.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command were patrolling Goodall Street, Pendle Hill, about 12.05am (Sunday 28 April 2024), when an SUV passed them without headlights.

Police attempted to stop the driver; however, will allege the direction was ignored, and a pursuit was initiated.

The SUV continued along the Cumberland Highway and onto Old Windsor Road before turning onto Seven Hills Road, allegedly at high speed.

As the vehicle turned onto Abbott Road it hit an electrical box and caught alight with the driver – and sole occupant – running away.

A perimeter was established and a short time later a police dog tracked down a 15-year-old boy who was arrested and taken to Granville Police Station.

The boy has now been charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, and drive conveyance taken without consent of owner. He's been refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Children's Court today.

The SUV was reported stolen from a home in Baulkham Hills last Thursday (25 April 2024).
