Teen killed, two seriously injured in Port Kembla car crash

A teenage girl has died and two males are injured after a car crashes into a tree at Port Kembla early this morning.

Just before 1am Monday, emergency services were called to Flinders Road, following reports that a car had crashed.

On arrival officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command officers found a Holden Commodore sedan had crashed into a tree.

A teenage girl, who was the front passenger, died at the scene.

The driver and rear passenger, both males, were treated by Ambulance Paramedics at the scene before being airlifted to St George Hospital.

The driver is in a critical condition and the other man is in a serious condition.

A crime scene has been established and will be examined by Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit and Forensic Imaging officers.

In the early stage of the investigation, police believe that speed may have been a factor.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
