A teenage boy has been charged with six offences relating to the alleged theft of vehicles in the state's far west.
Between 11pm Tuesday (17 December 2019) and 7am yesterday (Wednesday 18 December 2019), a series of vehicle thefts occurred in the Wentworth and Coomealla areas.
Officers attached to Barrier Police District received reports of the attempted theft of three vehicles in Wentworth, and the theft of one vehicle which was later located in the Coomealla area.
In Coomealla, a further two vehicles were reported stolen, along with petrol from a property.
The two vehicles were later recovered.
Following inquiries, officers stopped a 14-year-old boy walking through properties in Coomealla at about 9.30am, a short distance away from where one of the vehicles were recovered.
Police spoke with the boy and as a result conducted a person search, during which two sets of car keys and a knife were located.
It is alleged the boy ran from police.
The teenager was later presented to Dareton Police Station where he was charged with take and drive conveyance (x3), stealing (x2), and custody of knife in public place.
He was granted conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Friday 10 January 2020.
