Teenage girl assaulted, NSW

Police are investigating after a teenage girl was assaulted at a park in St Ives yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 3.50pm today, a 13-year-old girl got off a bus on Mona Vale Road, near Palm Road.

She was walking along the road when she was grabbed around the waist by a man wearing dark clothing and a full face balaclava, and lead to nearby Hasal Park.

The girl told police she was assaulted by the man before she managed to escape.

Detectives from Kuring Gai Local Area Command attended the scene and commenced their inquiries.

The girl suffered minor cuts and bruising to her face.

Police are seeking witnesses to the incident and are calling for anyone who may have been in the area of Mona Vale Road, about 3.45pm yesterday, or Hasal Park, should contact Hornsby Police Station on (02)94769 9799 or Crime Stoppers.
