Teenage girl seriously injured in water skiing incident, NSW

A teenage girl has been seriously injured after a skiing incident in the Murray River yesterday, NSW Police say.

A 15-year-old girl was learning to water ski behind a boat on the Murray River, about 5pm yesterday (Saturday 10 March 2018) when the rope has become entangled around her arm causing her to fall into the water.

The skier, sustained a serious arm injury and was taken to a nearby winery where medical assistance was sought, before being conveyed to Mildura Base Hospital in a stable condition. The teen was airlifted to Melbourne.

Officers from Barrier Police District attended the scene of the incident and commenced inquiries. The vessel, skis and tow rope have been seized for forensic examination.

The driver of the boat, a 43-year-old man, stopped and the skier was pulled from the water.
