Teenager arrested after two police officers assaulted at Woodville, SA

A teenager has been arrested after allegedly assaulting two police officers at Woodville today, according to SA Police.

Just after 6.30pm, police were at the Bunnings Hardware Store on Port Road dealing with an unrelated matter when they were notified by staff members that a boy had been caught stealing items from the store.

When the male police officer approached the suspect, he bit the officer on the arm.

The officer’s female partner attempted to restrain the boy, but he bit her on the arm also.

Extra patrols arrived soon after and arrested the suspect.

The injured officers were treated at hospital for their injuries which are not considered life-threatening.

A 15-year-old boy from Paradise will face charges of aggravated assault causing harm, theft and resisting arrest.

It is expected that he will be refused bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Youth Court tomorrow.
