Teenager charged after fight, break-in at Southern Illawarra home, NSW

A teenager is facing court next month after a melee at a Windang home during which a 70-year-old woman was injured, NSW Police say.

About 1.40am today, a teenage girl entered a home on Windang Road. A 14-year-old girl, who was an occupant of the home, was assaulted during the break-in. At this time, it is alleged other young people also entered the home and joined the fight.

A 70-year-old woman, who was also an occupant of the home, tried to intervene. The woman was assaulted, sustaining a non-life threatening stab wound to her torso.

She was taken to Wollongong Hospital for further treatment.

The 14-year-old sustained minor injuries and has spoken with police. She did not require further medical treatment.

A 15-year-old girl was arrested at the scene. She was charged with aggravated break/enter to commit corporal violence. It will be alleged the teenagers are known to each other.

The teenager was granted conditional bail prior to her appearance at a Children’s Court on 9 January 2018.
