Teenager charged after police pursuit in Sydney's west

A teenager has been charged after he allegedly led police on a pursuit through Sydney's west last night.

Officers from Liverpool Police Area Command attempted to stop a stolen Holden Mustang on the M7, Prestons, about 11.20pm (Thursday 1 October 2020).

Police will allege the driver – a 15-year-old boy – failed to stop, before officers commenced a pursuit.

They followed the car for a short distance before terminating the pursuit due to safety concerns.

A short time later, officers – with assistance from PolAir – found the car at Beamish Road, Northmead, where it had come to a stop.

The teenager allegedly refused to get out of the Holden before reversing into a police car, causing damage.

Officers then removed the teenager from the car before arresting him after a short struggle.

He was taken to Parramatta Police Station and charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, and resist police officer in the execution of duty.

The teenager was refused bail and is due to appear in a children's court today (Friday 2 October 2020).
