Teenager charged over carjacking - Bidwell

A teenage boy will face court charged over an alleged carjacking in Sydney's west yesterday.

About 1pm (Monday 3 May 2021), a man driving a Hyundai iLoad van attended a house in Daniels Road, Bidwell, to make a delivery.

When the man returned to the van he was approached by a young male, unknown to him.

The boy allegedly took the keys from the driver, before threatening him with a knife. He then drove away in the van.

The 21-year-old driver contacted police and officers attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, police observed the van on Parramatta Road, Auburn, just before 2pm. While stopped at traffic lights, officers removed the driver from the vehicle and placed him under arrest.

The 16-year-old was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, and never licensed person drive vehicle on road.

He was given conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Wednesday 16 June 2021.
