Teenager charged with robbery and stealings in Armidale

A teenager has been charged after a number of robbery and stealing offences were investigated in the Armidale area, NSW Police say.

Between Friday 7 April 2017 and Monday 10 April 2017, a unit on Niagara Street was broken into and a cash, electric item and ornaments were stolen.

In a second incident, about 7.15pm Thursday 27 April 2017, a 48-year-old woman was in her car in a car park on Marsh Street when a teenager opened the passenger a door and took her handbag from the car.

In a third incident, about 8.15pm Thursday 27 April 2017, an 85-year-old woman was in her car in a car park on Dumaresq Street when a teenager opened the passenger door and took her handbag from the car.

In a fourth incident, about 9pm Thursday 27 April 2017, a 28-year-old woman was walking within the grounds of a University on Meredith Road, when she was grabbed from behind and her mobile phone was stolen.

Officers from New England Local Area Command investigated each of the incidents.

Following inquiries, about 3.10pm today, a 16-year-old boy was arrested in Edward Street and taken to Armidale Police Station.

He has been charged with aggravated break and enter, two counts of steal from person and one count of aggravated robbery.

He has been refused bail and will appear before a Children’s Court tomorrow
