Teens Charged by Strike Force for Stolen Vehicles

Three teenage boys have been charged under Strike Force Sweetenham after investigations into multiple break and enters across the greater metropolitan area.

The first arrest relates to an investigation which commenced in September this year following multiple alleged aggravated break and enters, steal motor vehicles, and related offences throughout suburbs including Glebe, Strathfield, Collaroy, Edensor Park, Sans Souci and Leichhardt.

Following extensive inquiries, police executed a search warrant at Dulwich Hill yesterday morning (Wednesday 12 November 2025), where police located and seized a mobile phone, clothing, $1150 cash, and a dedicated encrypted criminal communication device (DECCD).

A 17-year-old boy was subsequently arrested and taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with 16 offences,

  • Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – people there (two counts)
  • Aggravated break and enter with intent – knowing person there
  • Steal motor vehicle (two counts)
  • Enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence
  • Dishonestly obtain property by deception
  • Enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner/occupier
  • Be carried in conveyance taken with out consent of owner (three counts)
  • Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner (three counts)
  • Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, and
  • Dispose motor vehicle part – theft (serious indictable offence more than $5000).

He has been refused bail to appear before a children's court later today (Thursday 13 November 2025).

The second arrest was of a15-year-old boy who's now been charged over his alleged involvement in an aggravated break, enter and steal of a home on Styles Street, Leichhardt, on Wednesday 22 October 2025, during which a vehicle was stolen.

The vehicle was then allegedly sold to an organised crime network on Friday 28 October 2025.

It was recovered by police the same day and seized for forensic examination.

Following inquiries, police executed a search warrant at Leichhardt about 8.40am yesterday (Wednesday 12 November 2025), and arrested a 15-year-old boy.

He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with dispose motor vehicle part – theft serious indictable offence, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and deal with property proceeds of crime.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Tuesday 9 December 2025.

The third arrest was of a 16-year-old boy who's been charged after a BMW X5 was stolen from a home in Box Hill overnight

Police were alerted after the SUV was stolen from a home on Mustang Avenue about 11.40pm yesterday (Wednesday 12 November 2025).

A short time later, the vehicle was sighted southbound on the M7 and a pursuit was initiated. Police will allege the vehicle reached speeds of up to 140km/h.

Shortly after midnight (Thursday 13 November 2025), the vehicle was found in Munyang Road, Heckenberg. A perimeter was established and, with assistance from POLAIR and the Dog Unit, a 16-year-old boy was arrested in Cabramurra Street.

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station where officers attached to Strike Force Sweetenham attended and assumed carriage of the investigation. They have now charged the boy with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty. He's also been charged with breach of bail.

The boy has been refused bail to appear in a children's court today.

The stolen SUV has been seized for forensic examination.
