Two teenage boys will face children's court over a break and enter in the state's west.
Just after 3am today (Thursday 5 June 2025), police were called to a home on Warrendine Street, Orange, following reports of an alleged break and enter.
Officers attached to Central West Police District were told a SUV and a handbag were allegedly stolen while the resident – a 74-year-old woman – was asleep.
A crime scene has been established and police commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following inquiries, about 7am on the same day, police located the vehicle abandoned on Elliot Close Orange.
The vehicle was seized to be forensically examined.
Following further inquiries, a short time later, police arrested to boys – aged 17 and 14 – on Torulosa Way, Orange.
They were both taken to Orange Police Station where they were charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, remain in building/land with intent to commit indictable offence and enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.
The older boy was granted conditional bail to appear at children's court on Monday 16 June 2025.
The younger boy was refused bail to appear at children's court today (Friday 6 June 2025).
