Two teenagers have been charged with a string of offences following, after they allegedly broke into a house and stole a car, in the State's south.
Police will allege sometime between 12am and 5.40am on Sunday 9 May, two teenagers allegedly broke into a home on Weir Place, Queanbeyan where they allegedly took car keys and stole a car parked under a carport.
The three people inside were undisturbed.
About 7am, officers attached to Monaro Police District were contacted and responded to the scene, where they commenced inquiries.
About 7pm on the same day, the car was located abandoned on Miller Street, Queanbeyan.
Following inquiries, about 2.40pm yesterday (Thursday 14 May 2026), officers attached to Monaro Police District executed two search warrants in Queanbeyan West and Mayfield.
Two males, aged 15 and 16, were arrested and taken to Queanbeyan Police Station.
They were both charged with six offences - face blackened/disguised within intent to commit indictable offence, take & drive conveyance w/o consent of owner, destroy or damage property, driver never licensed (section 53(5)), aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60000 and larceny
They were refused bail to appear in a Children's Court today ( Friday 15 May 2026).
