Tell us about health and wellbeing priorities - East Gippsland

East Gippsland Shire Council is leading the development of a new four-year municipal health and wellbeing plan, 'Well placed for Wellbeing 2021-25'. The plan guides the work of Council and partner organisations to improve the health and wellbeing of the East Gippsland community.

Mayor Cr Mendy Urie is encouraging community members to take part in the consultation which is open until Thursday, September 30. Feedback from individuals and community groups will be used to inform the development of the next stages of plan.

"We are keen to hear what the most important health and wellbeing priorities are for our communities over the coming four years. Good health and wellbeing is important. It enables people to participate fully in community life and is essential for a strong economy," Cr Urie said.

"It is important to know this plan covers much more than physical and mental health, for instance it also looks at people feeling safe, connected and included."

Early conversations with our community and health partners have identified five priority health outcomes for East Gippsland.

"We have a series of short videos which give an overview of the five areas. We'd like people to let us know if they agree we should focus on those areas, or if we have missed something."

The areas of focus are:

  • Liveable
  • Healthy and well
  • Safe and secure
  • Connected to culture and community
  • Able to participate

"We encourage everyone to have their say and get involved in the project. The health and wellbeing of our community is key to creating a vibrant life for everyone in East Gippsland. Therefore, we want to ensure that our community is at the heart of our 'Well placed for Wellbeing Plan' and can influence the actions both Council and our partner organisations take," Cr Urie said.
