Tender Awarded for Sporting Infrastructure Upgrades in Daly River

The Nauiyu Numbiyu community is set for upgrades to the oval following the awarding of the contract to local company Sterling NT.

The Territory Labor Government has invested $10 million over two years to upgrade sporting infrastructure in remote communities throughout the NT, including $1 million to the Victoria Daly Regional Council.

Local contractor Sterling NT has been awarded the contract to improve the standard of the oval as well as field drainage.

The region will benefit from a suite of upgrades, including waterproofing and upgrading the sport and recreation hall and adjacent building which was completed earlier this year.

The Territory Government is working in partnership with regional councils to ensure funding supports community priorities and delivers improved sporting infrastructure.

As noted by Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Lauren Moss:

We continue to invest in the Territorys community assets because we know they build vibrant communities, boost the economy and create local jobs.

We want to see more Territorians in remote communities participate in sport to improve health and well-being outcomes, and well maintained sporting facilities including ovals with good facilities will promote participation.

The oval upgrades are part of a suit of works to vital sporting infrastructure in the Daly Region delivering positive community outcomes.
