As part of the Finocchiaro CLP Government's year of action, certainty and security, the Territory is proudly showcasing one of its finest exports on the world stage.
Attendees at the World Expo in Japan are being treated to a top-tier Territory delicacy, Humpty Doo Barramundi, featured prominently on the menu at the Australia Pavilion, Expo 2025 Osaka.
Renowned for its premium-quality farmed barramundi, Territory business Humpty Doo Barramundi has been selected as a key supplier, delivering Territory barra for everything from classic Aussie 'fish n chips' to exclusive VIP dining experiences.
This is another example of the Territory's global reach growing under a government focused on economic certainty, strong industry partnerships, and promoting what makes the NT unique.
Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations, Robyn Cahill said 28 million people are expected to visit until October 13.
"Humpty Doo Barramundi is a huge success story for the Territory. It takes consistent hard work to build an international business, and our Territory exporters are delivering impact on both the Territory and the nation's economy.
"It's wonderful to see Humpty Doo Barramundi chosen from a nation-wide pool as a showcase menu item at the World Expo," said Ms Cahill.
Humpty Doo Barramundi is building a global reputation as a supplier of premium quality saltwater barramundi and positioning the Northern Territory as a source of high-grade, ethically farmed seafood.
Humpty Doo Barramundi is the leading producer of farmed barramundi in Australia, accounting for 53% of national production in 2023.
Dan Richards from Humpty Doo Barramundi said, "we are very excited to have our product at World Expo and keen to use this opportunity to help build export opportunities into Japan."
The CLP Government has also released an expression of interest process to call for nominees to attend the Expo 2025 Osaka as part of a trade delegation in September 2025.
Minister Cahill added, "Joining the NT Government's trade mission to World Expo later this year offers an exceptional opportunity for Territory businesses to promote their products and services to the Northen Territory's largest export market, Japan and to the rest of the world. This is part of the Finocchiaro CLP Government's plan to rebuild the economy."
