Territory's Economic Comeback Key Focus of Parliamentary Fortnight

NT Government

The Territory Labor Government is continuing to lead the economic comeback and keeping Territorians safe with a fortnight of parliamentary sittings beginning from today.

A Territory Economic Reconstruction Bill which will see regulatory changes aid the Territory's economic recovery will be debated this week.

A key area identified for the Territory Economic Reconstruction Commission's focus was prioritising regulatory reform and streamlining approvals to support industry and ease investment.

This Bill will deliver on that.

Amendments to the Health Legislation Bill are also up for debate this sitting fortnight.

One of the key amendments is to improve the process to declare isolation facilities.

Over the course of the past year, Howard Springs, the Todd Facility and the Ross facility have been declared as isolation facilities multiple times.

This change enables a longer timeframe to be declared, providing clinical and commercial certainty.

Over the sitting fortnight the parliament will be updated on the COVID-19 situation in the Northern Territory.

The Northern Territory has had 163,000 COVID-19 vaccines administered since February.

More than 52 per cent of Territorians have received their first dose and 33 per cent are now fully vaccinated.
