Thank you Scott Tilyard

Peter Gutwein,Premier

Deputy Commissioner Scott Tilyard has been a dedicated member of Tasmania Police for nearly 41 years with an impressive career in a variety of roles including uniform, criminal investigation and prosecution positions.

Scott has been Detective Inspector in charge of Hobart CIB, Commander of Northern District, and Assistant Commissioner in both Operations and Specialist Support, before he was appointed Deputy Commissioner in 2011.

More recently Scott has been working in a different role as the Deputy State Controller, firstly leading the State Control Centre and now the COVID Coordination Centre which he's done since September last year.

The importance of Scott's role cannot be understated, as on a daily basis he develops, coordinates and leads whole of government responses to address the challenges posed by COVID-19.

On a personal note, I have worked closely with Scott over the past 18 months and I have appreciated his strong leadership and advice.

Now, Mr Tilyard is taking on a new role as Chair of the Road Safety Advisory Council where I know his knowledge and experience in public safety will be a fantastic asset.

On behalf of the Government, I wish Scott all the best in his retirement and whatever the future may bring.
