Theft & deceptions - Toorak, South Yarra & Prahran

Stonnington Criminal Investigation Unit detectives are investigating following a series of thefts and deceptions in Toorak, South Yarra and Prahran in November, Victoria Police say.

It is believed an unknown man picked up a lost wallet in the Hawthorn area between 11.30pm on Monday 21 and 1.30am on Tuesday 22 November.

Between 11.45am and 1.15pm that Tuesday morning, the man used the victim’s ID and bank cards to withdraw a significant amount of cash from bank branches in Toorak, South Yarra and Prahran.

Police have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist them with their enquiries.

He is perceived to be of Caucasian in appearance, aged in his 50s, with brown hair and glasses.

He was wearing runners, jeans, a navy jumper and at times a beanie.
