Theft and subsequent deceptions in Melbourne's north

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate two men believed to be involved in a theft in Richmond last month that lead to multiple deceptions, Victoria Police say.

On 11 December an unknown male is believed to have entered through the back door of a Peers Street premises and stole a purse about midday.

It is believed the man used one of the victim’s credit cards from the purse at a service station on Wellington Parade in East Melbourne shortly after, about 12.40pm.

The credit card was then detected being used at several tobacco shops on Barkly and Hopkins streets in Footscray by a second male offender about 1.45pm that same date.

The first male is perceived as being Caucasian, in his early 40s, approximately 180cm tall, with a medium build and short brown hair that is balding. He was also wearing a white Everlast t-shirt.

The second male is male is perceived as being Caucasian, in his mid 40s, approximately 180cm tall, with a solid build. He was wearing a camouflage cap, a blue long sleeved top and blue striped board shorts.

Police have released images of two men they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
