Theft of designer handbags in Southbank

Police have released CCTV and are appealing to the public to help identify a woman following the theft of two designer handbags in Southbank last month.

Investigators have been told a woman attended a shop at the Whiteman Street complex about 12.50pm on 19 May.

The woman requested to try on some handbags before further requesting to try on some shoes.

As an employee went to retrieve shoes from the storeroom, the woman concealed the handbags in another bag before fleeing the store.

The two Louis Vuitton bags have a combined retail value of over $11,000

Investigators have released CCTV footage of a woman who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

The woman is perceived to be Asian in appearance, about 170-180cm tall, and aged in her late 20s or early 30s.

She was wearing a brown puffer jacket, black leggings, and carrying a black and pink Marais handbag.

Anyone who recognises the woman or has any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppervic.com.au.
