Warrnambool Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after the theft of prescription medication from a vehicle in Warrnambool.
Investigators have been told a quantity of fentanyl was taken from the boot of a car in Monterey Court sometime between 6.30pm on Sunday, 23 April and 9.30am the following morning.
Police are particularly concerned as the medication is potentially lethal if taken without individualised medical direction.
