Thieves break into Walkerston's Anglican Church

Police are investigating after thieves broke into Saint Mary Magdalene's Anglican Church in Walkerston and stole a significant sum of money.

A parishioner attended the Church on Pioneer Valley Road around 7am on Good Friday only to find that the Church - which is also an opportunity (op) shop - had been broken into.

It appears that someone forced their way into the vestry, rummaged through cupboards and drawers in the office before stealing a significant amount of cash.

It is thought that the offence occurred sometime between 6pm after the Maundy Thursday Evening Prayer service and 7am on Good Friday morning.

Police door knocked surrounding homes but have not yet been able to identify those responsible.

Anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious near the Church is encouraged to contact police.

As well, anyone who may have been driving down Pioneer Valley Road and has relevant dashcam video should also contact police.
