Thieves excavate trucks in Kew

Police are hoping to dig up some information from the public after trucks worth $800,000 were stolen in Kew last week.

Investigators have been told unknown offenders have forced entry to a construction site on the Yarra Boulevard sometime between 5pm on Sunday 21 July and 5.30am on 22 July.

It is believed the locks to the front gate were cut and three orange excavators and two trucks were stolen.

One of the trucks was located in Campbellfield on Tuesday 23 July.

Boroondara Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and have released images of the vehicles in the hope someone may know of their whereabouts.

Anyone with information or who may recognise the trucks are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
