Third Arrest in Boat Fire: Strike Force Fierasfer

A third man has been charged following a suspicious boat fire in Sydney's south.

On Saturday 19 April 2025, officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command commenced an investigation following a fire at a marina in Mangrove Lane, Taren Point.

Police were told two men allegedly entered the marina and boarded a commercial vessel which caught fire a short time later.

Strike Force Fierasfer, comprising detectives from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command, was formed to investigate the fire.

Two men have been charged over the incident and remain before the courts.

Following extensive inquiries, today (Thursday 25 September 2025), a 50-year-old man was arrested at Tweed Heads Police Station for an outstanding warrant.

He was charged with dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception and dishonestly for gain damage property by fire/explosive.

He was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Court 7 today (Thursday 25 September 2025), where he was granted conditional bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Friday 10 October 2025.
